One million rugby fans watch ridiculous airborne finish as commentator is left in utter disbelief

Harlequins winger Tyrone Green has produced a sensational airbourne finish in the Gallagher Premiership. The try was scored in a game between ‘Quins and Newcastle Falcons at the Twickenham Stoop. The night before the game, Ospreys played there and beat the Sharks in the United Rugby Championship, you can read more about that historic game here.

‘Quins would go on to win the game 40-12 in a hugely convincing victory with six tries scored by the home team. However, it’s Green’s jaw-dropping finish that has grabbed the headlines.

Former Cardiff Rugby fly-half Jarrod Evans started the game, with England international Marcus Smith coming on as his replacement after 55 minutes. 20 minutes later and with five minutes to go, Quins were camped on the Falcons’ five-metre line and decided to go through the backs.

Smith launched a sumptuous cross-field kick, getting absolutely nailed in the process, and it looked for the world that there was just a tad too much on the effort.

In quite spectacular fashion, Green launched himself into the air and touched the ball down simultaneously to complete a remarkable score.

Commentator Rupert Cox was completely awe-struck. “Change of direction here, the cross kick is on. Marcus Smith is hit hard… Ooooh! Tyrone Green, hands in the air,” he said.

“If this goes down it’s an absolute worldie! What have we just seen?!”
